Sayali Bhagat shares her Bollywood dreams with ATLike most beauty queens (she’s a former Femina Miss India) Sayali Bhagat thought winning the beauty pageant would make her Bollywood trek smoother. And like her predecessors she even took the ramp route to the silver screen. Her cinematic debut, The Train didn’t quite set the box-office afire but Sayali seems to be enjoying her stint in films. In town recently to attend a private event, Sayali confesses that her serial kisser co-star Emraan Hashmi has been simply wonderful to work with.
He is one of the most friendly actors in the industry.
He is supportive and helpful, and he never interferes in other people’s work. After meeting him, I got positive vibes about the film industry.Sayali admits that while the casting couch does exist, her modelling background certainly made things easy for her. Nobody made such offers to me. Girls who are very ambitious fall into this trap. But if one believes in oneself and God, then things do work out in their favour.Brought up in a traditional Maharashtrian family, Sayali had to really convince her parents about her dreams of being part of the glamour biz. I had to sit down and explain my need to be part of the modelling and film industry. I started modelling when I was in Class IX and since then there has been no looking back.Ask her if she was comfortable doing cosy scenes with Emraan and she sportingly says: As an actor, it’s my job to make the character look real enough to convince the audience. I have also fallen into real garbage for a scene in my next film Good Luck because that’s what the story demanded.Sayali is also being signed for a three film contract with producer Shyam Bajaj and is also doing a dance number in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol. So is life shaping up the way she wanted it to? I am happy that my work has got appreciated and the industry has accepted me by offering me more films. There are enough films being made and there is enough work for everybody. I don’t compete with anybody. I want to grow in my own way. When she’s not shooting, Sayali loves to read and go for walks on the beach. And like most young girls, she loves gossiping for hours “on the phone with friends. And since I giggle a lot, my friends call me giggling queen, she laughs.
